About

Hey! I’m Genesis, and I’ve been watching anime for the last 14 years, all the way back in middle school. This blog was built to share my thoughts on the various anime that are coming out each season. I’m here to watch not only what’s trending, but what’s also not. I want to uncover some hidden gems and occasionally rant about things I like.

You can expect to find first episode reviews, whole season reviews, spotlights and genre comparisons. I want to highlight what I like most about the shows and share whether I had a good experience watching them or not.

This site is for all types of anime fans. I tend to focus on returning fans however, as I am trying to find the “next best thing to watch.”

I like to look into the voice actors, music, animation, and plot of each anime I watch. I watch both subbed and dubbed and will say what form I am watching a show it. The reason I do not pick one or the other is because I strive to be an English voice actor one day and want to hear these actors’ performances, and also, I am learning Japanese for several reasons, some personal and others professional.

I try to rate every episode and show on a 1-10 scale. For those who might have different feelings about how this scale works here are my one line thoughts for each level.

1 – This show is quite possibly the worst show I have ever seen

2 – This show is definitely not on my list to continue watching. So many things have to be wrong for a show to end up this low.

3 – This is probably the cutoff of a first episode. If an anime is this bad in all aspects, I will not be watching more than one episode.

4 – This is a below average episode. Something like if all the budget was spent on the intro and nothing was left to watch but mediocre acting/animation and a sub-par plot.

5 – This is the bare minimum/average a show could be. Hit this and I’ll keep watching.

6 – This level is where things get interesting. I get a little interested in the story and tend to have a decent enjoyment watching it. Would maybe not watch a second season.

7 – This is where I believe most shows should be to become successful. If you’re a 7 you have a few good aspects and piqued my interest for a majority of the show. Possibly deserves a second season

8 – A truly good anime. This encompasses the excellent. Shows where the voice acting, music, animation, plot, and emotion all hit in a way where it’s almost indescribable.

9 – Peak anime. This is when an anime has done so well in hooking my attention that I can’t keep myself from waiting any longer to know what happens next. I’ll likely continue reading the manga just to scratch the itch that is this anime.

10 – The holy grail. This anime should be watched by everyone. The animation is so well done that it looks like the animators’ arms are falling off from the time they spent on it. The actors’ voices are bleeding emotion from the stellar plot that is being unfolded in front of our mortal eyes. The music and sound effects are borderline ascended. This anime is perfection, down to the last minute detail.

My favorite genres include Sports, Action, Comedy and Shonen. Some of my favorite anime are:

Doctor Stone – 9/10

Kuroko’s Basketball – 9/10

My Hero Academia – 7/10

One Outs – 8/10
